Report: Tide's Yeldon to sit a quarter

Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon's actions against Texas A&M have earned him a seat on the bench -- for a while -- according to a report.

Yeldon will sit out for the first quarter of Saturday's Colorado State-Alabama game after his throat-slash gesture led to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Texas A&M, the Anniston Star reported.

Yeldon scored a touchdown on a four-yard run and then made the "money gesture" that has become associated with Manziel. He followed that up with a double-throat slash move.

Yeldon, who has 224 yards rushing and two touchdowns, released a prepared statement Monday through the school’s athletics communications office.

“I want to apologize to everyone for my selfish actions on Saturday,” Yeldon said in the statement. “That is not the way I want to represent myself, my family and our team. That is not the way we do things at Alabama. This is something that I will learn from, and I will use better judgment in the future.”

The Star reported Alabama would not confirm or deny the suspension.
