Report: Tennessee planning Checkerboard Neyland campaign for OU game

Published Aug. 13, 2015 12:23 p.m. ET

Not that the city of Knoxville needed any extra enthusiasm for Tennessee's home opener against Oklahoma, but they now reportedly will have it:

If this news is accurate, the Sept. 12 game will be the second ever Checkerboard Neyland campaign following last season's 10-9 loss against Florida.

Coordinating and organizing 102,455 to wear the correct color is quite the undertaking, but goes to show the passion Tennessee fans have for their up-and-coming team.

If the Vols can turn around and beat an Oklahoma team that beat them by 24 last season, the results could provide the spark the team needs heading into their SEC opener, as they head to Gainesville looking to end a 10-season drought against the Gators.
