Report: Sooners chaplain arrested after allegedly stealing drugs
Oklahoma's football chaplain allegedly used a vehicle test drive ploy to steal prescription drugs from the home of a man in Norman.
According to a report from NewsOK.com, police responded on Wednesday to a call for a disturbance at the residence. There, Kent Bowles allegedly admitted that he had stolen pills, which were identified as Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. The owner had reportedly left him alone in the home while out on the drive.
He was "arrested on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, larceny, concealment of stolen property and obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check or false pretenses," NewsOK reports.
Bowles allegedly claimed that he was letting the home owner test drive a GMC vehicle as part of a charitable initiative in which the dealership would donate to the ministry he works for in return for every 100 rides taken. However, the dealership reportedly denied this claim, despite a representative saying that the company was letting the ministry use one of its vehicles.
Bowles has worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 21 years.
The man who took the test drive was reportedly told by his wife that Bowles was wandering in the house. She reportedly watched him on a security camera stream on her phone.
Bowles reportedly posted a $5,000 bond after being booked.
