Report: Receiver K.J. Young gets booted from team for rules violations
Another Sooners wide receiver bit the dust. K.J. Young, who started three games last season and appeared in 12, was kicked off the Oklahoma football team for violating unspecified team rules, according to a report by The Oklahoman.
Young is the second wide receiver from the 2013 signing class to leave OU. In October, Dannon Cavil announced he would transfer. The Sooners are coming off a season in which they received little production from their receiving corps, complicated by nagging injuries to star receiver Sterling Shepard.
OU coach Bob Stoops fired receivers coach Jay Norvell after the disappointing 2014 season. Norvell landed on Charlie Strong's staff at Texas. Young caught 19 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown last season, and was going to have the opportunity to emerge for OU as it implements the Air Raid offense.
Young is the third player from the 2013 recruiting class to leave the team recently. Running back Keith Ford is also transferring after being suspended during spring practices.
