Report: Pitt hires Scott Barnes to be its next athletic director
The fate of Pittsburgh's athletic future now lies in the hands of Utah State's Scott Barnes, according to an "industry source" that informed the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Barnes has spent the last seven years as athletic director at Utah State, and his Aggies experienced notable growth under his watch. The football team made consecutive bowl appearances for the first time in school history, Jerry Dipaola of Total Trib Media notes, and joined the respectable Mountain West conference back in 2013.
At Utah State, Barnes over saw the growth of multi-million dollar athletic facilities and even negotiated a $2.4 million deal with Nike, according to DiPaola.
Now, Barnes must manage the growth of the Panthers as the football team embarks on a new chapter under head coach Pat Narduzzi.
