Report: Meyer says Ohio State 'aware' of Michigan's offseason work

Published Jun. 22, 2015 1:42 p.m. ET

Anybody who reads much of anything about college football this offseason would probably be hard-pressed to avoid seeing Jim Harbaugh's name in headlines. With it comes seemingly endless news about his alma mater and new employer, the Michigan Wolverines.

Even for coaches -- who seem to like to claim they are or are not aware of what's happening in the media based on whichever answer is most convenient at the time -- such as Urban Meyer that is apparently the case.

“I think our staff is certainly aware of Coach Harbaugh’s history," Meyer told the Columbus Dispatch. "Any time the adversary has quality people in there, you’re aware of everything they’re doing and their work."

The head coach of the Buckeyes was not ready to declare the rivalry "ratcheted up" yet, but he left little doubt the Wolverines have the attention of the OSU coaching staff this offseason.

"I think aware is the appropriate word," Meyer said. "We’re certainly aware and want to make sure we’re staying on top of our business.”

That business includes not only extending their winning streak to four in a row against the Wolverines but also repeating as national champions for the first time in school history.

How much harder will Harbaugh make those goals to achieve? We won't find out until November.
