Report: Manziel to stop tweeting
Johnny Manziel has connected with plenty of receivers. He’s now disconnecting from his followers.
The Texas A&M Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback has decided to stop tweeting, an obvious disappoint to his 332,000-plus followers and a growing cult of those who enjoyed his antics, opinions and celebrity.
"I've kind of just shut it all off," Manziel told ESPN.com. "With how the media has been with me for a while, I just shut everything off. As of [Monday], I said I was done with [Twitter] for however long. It's fun to have, but it can get to be distracting at points."
The decision came shortly after a minor incident at Saturday’s practice blew up. Manziel threw an interception and shoved a graduate assistant. It wasn’t much, but when you are the Heisman Trophy winner it became a story.
"I'm surprised to [see] how the attention has continued through the offseason," Manziel said. "I guess I thought it would die off and slow down a little bit, but it really hasn't."
Here are some of Manziel's gems on Twitter:
