Report: Family of LSU's Leonard Fournette may have broken NCAA rules
According to a report from USA TODAY Sports, LSU running back Leonard Fournette's family could be embroiled in a situation with the NCAA.
The report claims that during Fournette's high school days, an acronym titled "BUGA Nation" (standing for "Being United Generates Attitude") was created and became associated with Fournette.
According to the report, a man named "Paul Price, described by Fournette's mother as the family’s manager," made payments totaling $10,000 to build a website and produce merchandise with the "BUGA Nation" catchphrase. The report says one of the business owners involved in the enterprise admitted giving the family a $20,000 discount, and also recently admitted that they have yet to be paid back in full.
The website reportedly was launched in 2014, but soon after was taken down over concerns from the NCAA. According to the NCAA, athletes and/or family members are prohibited from profiting over a name, image or likeness.
