Remember when Dirk Koetter nearly coached Oklahoma State?

Dirk Koetter, who is now considered one of the hottest coaching candidates around, almost coached Oklahoma State once upon a time. Remember that?

There were better times to be a Pokes fan. In 2000, the Cowboys were near the bottom of the Big 12 and had just let go their head coach. They had just let go of Bob Simmons, and Koetter was offered the job. Originally, he accepted it.

He ultimately backed out, much to Oklahoma State's benefit. The Cowboys had two Plan B's: Les Miles and Mike Gundy.

The rest is history.
