Redshirt freshman LB could surprise for Penn State

Published Jul. 1, 2015 12:17 p.m. ET

Injuries might have robbed Troy Reeder of an opportunity to work his way into the starting lineup this spring, but Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop told PennLive.com not to count Reeder out as a contributor this fall.

"He just has the body type, the football intelligence," said Shoop, who also described the 6-foot-1, 235-pound Reeder as "a skill set player" and "a guy that could be next in that long line of Penn State linebackers."

A three-star recruit from Delaware, Reeder signed in 2014 and took a redshirt last season.
