RB Derrick Henry nearly transferred from Alabama as freshman

This season the Alabama offense centers around one player, junior running back Derrick Henry. That certainly wasn't the case his freshman season, as Henry only carried the ball 28 times in the regular season in his first year.

Having to adapt and learn to play the running back position was a huge hurdle for a player just asked to simply run with the ball as a high school star. 

The adjustment was too much and Henry's first reaction was to leave the school, according to ESPN. Luckily for Henry, his assistant coach J.T. Medley called Henry's family and high school coaches to intervene before the wrong decision was made. 

Clear heads obviously prevailed and two seasons later, Henry is well on his way to becoming one of the front runners for the Heisman Trophy as the Tide enter SEC play against Ole Miss this weekend.
