QB Morgan Mahalak announces transfer
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Oregon quarterback Morgan Mahalak, who was on the Ducks' scout team last season as a redshirt freshman, has announced his decision to transfer.
Mahalak, who was part of Oregon's 2014 recruiting class out of Kentfield, California, said in a lengthy Twitter post on Tuesday night that it was time for him to move on. He did not indicate his future plans.
A pro-style quarterback, Mahalak redshirted his first year before his scout team duties, never seeing a snap in a game.
Graduate transfer Dakota Prukop from Montana State looks to take over next season following quarterback Vernon Adams' single season as a transfer. Also in the mix at quarterback for the Ducks will be senior Jeff Lockie, Heisman winner Marcus Mariota's backup in the 2014 season, Taylor Alie and redshirt freshman Travis Jonsen.
