Purdue's former starting QB Danny Etling to transfer
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Quarterback Danny Etling will transfer from Purdue.
Coach Darrell Hazell announced the move Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound sophomore started the final seven games of his freshman season after replacing Rob Henry. Five games into last season, Hazell named Austin Appleby the starter.
Etling, a Terre Haute, Indiana, native never played again for the Boilermakers. In 13 career games, Etling was 238 of 429 with 2,490 yards, 16 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions in 13 career games. He has not said where he will play.
Appleby heads into the fall as the incumbent starter and is expected to face a strong challenge from redshirt freshman David Blough. True freshman Elijah Sindelar is the only other quarterback on Purdue's roster.
