Princeton runs away from Cornell, 47-21

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) Joe Rhattigan ran for 127 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown, and John Lovett added 92 yards on the ground with two scores to help lead Princeton to a 47-21 victory over Cornell on Saturday.

The Tigers (5-2, 2-2 Ivy League) combined for 261 yards rushing and averaged nearly eight yards per carry (7.9). Chad Kanoff threw for 203 yards and one touchdown for Princeton.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 14-0 and led 17-7 at the break. Princeton was never seriously threatened in the second half, building its lead to 34-14 after three quarters.

Cornell (0-7, 0-4) pulled to 34-21 early in the fourth quarter on a Robert Somborn 6-yard pass to Chris Lenz.

Samborn finished with 279 yards passing and two scores. Luke Hagy had 128 yards rushing and one TD.

Cornell has lost 16 of 17 dating back to last season.
