PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) Quarterback Jerry Lovelocke ran for two second-half touchdowns Saturday to help Prairie View beat Alabama State 34-24, snapping a four-game skid against the Hornets.

Alabama State (4-3, 3-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) marched 74 yards - capped by a 7-yard touchdown run from Khalid Thomas - to open up a 7-0 lead with 12:36 left in the first quarter.

Prairie View (2-4, 2-3) used touchdown runs by Johnta' Hebert and Jovante Ham, as well as a pair of field goals by Christopher Barrick, to make it 20-7 with 39 seconds left in the half, but Alabama State drove 51 yards before Preston Clark hit a 34-yard field goal as time expired.

After Lovelocke scored on a 1-yard run early in the third, touchdown runs by Quinteris Toppings and Thomas cut the Prairie View lead to 27-24 after three quarters.
