Pinkel inviting the 2005 team back to Columbia for special occasion

The hiring of Gary Pinkel was an incredibly shrewd move by the Missouri brass.

Since taking over in 2001, the Tigers have gone 117-70. Pinkel has led Missouri to a stretch of seven-straight winning seasons, including back-to-back SEC East Division titles in 2013 and 2014.

Pinkel's first bowl victory game in 2005, when his team defeated South Carolina 38-31 in the Independence Bowl. Ten years later, Pinkel would like to honor those involved.

He's personally invited the team back to Missouri for the game on Nov. 21 against Tennessee. Not only will there be festivities honoring the squad, but there will also be a tailgate the day of the game.

The victory featured a strong effort by quarterback Brad Smith. The electric signal-caller rushed 151 yards and a touchdown, and also included 282 yards passing and one touchdown through the air.

Sitting at 4-4 (and struggling immensely on offense), Pinkel surely wishes Smith had some existing eligibility remaining.
