Pinkel challenging offense to step up around freshman QB Lock

With a true freshman Drew Lock taking over the reins of the offense, growing pains were to be expected.

As such, head coach Gary Pinkel would theoretically rely on his more experienced players to support the young signal-caller. If Wednesday is any indication, he isn't too happy with the play around his quarterback.

Pinkel took a not-so-subtle shot at his entire offense Wednesday, saying "If people around [Lock] play better and more consistently, it makes him easier for him to play quarterback."

The offense is struggling without question. Missouri currently ranks No. 121 nationally in total offense. Not only is this statistic hindering the Tigers' ability to repeat as SEC East Division champions, but it's also putting even more pressure on Mizzou's talented defense.

Against Georgia this weekend, look for Missouri to establish its rushing attack with a somewhat healthy Russell Hansbrough. If the dynamic back can run with effectiveness, it'll help Lock out tremendously in the passing game.
