Penn State's Saquon Barkley receives prestigious honor

BY Marcus Hartman • January 12, 2016

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was named part of the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America team this week.

The second-team All-Big Ten selection ran for 1,076 yards to set a Nittany Lions freshman record in 2015.

Barkley led Penn State in all-purpose yards with 1,237, and he seemed to be good for at least one big highlight run per week.

He went over 100 yards five times and reached quadruple digits on the season despite battling an injury in the middle part of the season.

Barkley's best game came in October when he ran for 194 yards at defending national champion Ohio State.

Per PSUSports.com, he led the Big Ten in runs of 20 yards or more, ripping off 15 of those.
