Penn State's Nassib tabbed nation's best 4-3 DE through 5 games
Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib has put up great individual numbers whether you look at the traditional or advanced kind.
For the former, Nassib is second in the nation with eight sacks on the season, a figure that trails only Joe Schobert of Wisconsin.
Nassib is tied with Andrew King of Army and Steven Taylor of Houston for No. 5 in the country in tackles for loss with 2.0 per game, but he's also received the notice of advanced football analysts at Pro Football Focus.
PFF on Tuesday declared Nassib the best 4-3 defensive end in college football so far this season.
How has he earned that recognition? By leading the country in PFF's pass rushing productivity with a grade of 21.1. To calculate pass rushing productivity, PFF combines sacks with a percentage of hits and hurries per pass rush attempt.
