Penn State adds four football early enrollees

BY Marcus Hartman • January 13, 2016

Penn State announced four members of James Franklin's 2016 recruiting class have enrolled early and will take part in spring practice.

The highest-rated new member of the Nittany Lions is offensive lineman Connor McGovern, a four-star recruit from Larksville (Pa.) Lake-Lehman.

He is one of two offensive linemen getting a head start on his college career, joining Alex Gellerstedt, a three-star prospect from Dublin (Ohio) Coffman.

They will join a group that has struggled the last couple of seasons and will have a new coach in 2016

Franklin is also adding a quarterback in three-star prospect Jake Zembiec, a 6-3, 202-pounder from Rochester (N.Y.) Aquinas Institute.

Zembiec was an Elite 11 finalist and was named the New York State Gatorade Player of the Year.

With three-year starter Christian Hackenberg having decided to enter the 2016 NFL draft, Zembiec may be able to throw his hat in the ring for the chance to replace him.

Also enrolling early is Danny Dalton, a three-star tight end from Marshfield, Mass.
