Mullens is one of five current athletic directors on the 12-member committee. He will serve a three-year term on the selection committee.
"It is truly an honor to serve on the College Football Playoff selection committee," Mullens said in a statement. "I am looking forward to serving alongside the other distinguished members."
Mullens is in his sixth-year at Oregon and was nominated for the seat by the Pac-12. Mullens came to Oregon in 2010 from Kentucky, where he served as deputy director of athletics.
