Only one prior meeting among FCS quarterfinalists
(STATS) - It's not just the same ol', same ol' in the FCS playoff quarterfinals. Instead, teams are saying, "Nice to meet you."
The programs in three of the quarterfinals are facing each other for the first time: Weber State (11-2) at No. 1 seed James Madison (12-0) on Friday night, and New Hampshire (9-4) at No. 5 seed South Dakota State (10-2) and Kennesaw State (12-1) at No. 6 seed Sam Houston State (11-1) on Saturday.
Wofford (10-2) and No. 2 seed North Dakota State (11-1) will meet for the second time Saturday in Fargo. NDSU beat Wofford 14-7 in the 2012 quarterfinals, a game in which Bison linebacker Grant Olson had a school-record 29 tackles.
The winners will advance to the semifinals, with one set for Dec. 14 and the other on Dec. 15 at campus sites. The championship game will be played Jan. 6 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
