OL coach Herb Hand leaves Penn State for Auburn

BY Bruce Feldman • January 11, 2016

Veteran Penn State offensive line coach Herb Hand is going back to the SEC, joining Gus Malzahn’s staff at Auburn to lead the O-line.

Multiple sources told FOX Sports that Hand was expected to be hired by the Tigers before the school's announcement Monday.

The 48-year-old Hand worked with Malzahn at Tulsa and had helped James Franklin lead Vanderbilt to consecutive top 25 seasons before both were hired by Penn State. Hand is the second long-time Franklin staffer who has left Penn State, following the departure of defensive coordinator Bob Shoop to Tennessee.

Hand replaces former Tigers offensive line coach J.B. Grimes, who accepted a job at Cincinnati.

USA Today was first to report the Hand news.
