Now a university president, Tressel doesn't miss coaching

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Jim Tressel led Ohio State to its last national championship and was on hand to see the Buckeyes try to win another one.

Selected for induction into the college football hall of fame on Friday, Tressel was on the field for the opening coin toss before the Buckeyes took on Oregon on Monday night in the College Football Playoff championship.

Tressel, who led the Buckeyes to the national championship after the 2002 season, lost his job at Ohio State due to a tattoo scandal.

''The day that I wasn't the coach at OS, the price was paid,'' said Tressel, still under NCAA sanctions for lying to investigators. ''I don't sit around thinking about that. That's why I'll do fine.''

Now the president at Youngstown State University, Tressel says stays busy doing ''important'' work.

''We're doing pretty well,'' said Tressel, with his wife, Ellen, standing nearby in the end zone marked bearing Ohio State's name.

Then he cracked, ''I won't make the presidents' hall of fame, though.''
