NFL Week 1 Fantasy Football Recap
Week one NFL fantasy results.
As the first week of the NFL season comes to a close, its time to look back at the good fantasy picks of the week as well as the not so good. Personally I had a decent week of Fantasy on DraftKings, breaking even for the week.
My two picks at quarterback included the good and the bad. My first pick, Derek Carr, wasn’t the highest scoring fantasy QB of his game, but he also wasn’t as expensive as Drew Brees. Carr finished with 1 touchdown and 319 yards, collecting the 300+ yard bonus.
He also completed a pass for a crucial two point conversion to somewhat makeup for his lack of touchdowns. Carr’s stat line was good for 25.36 DraftKings points.
My other pick at QB did not have as good of a week. Robert Griffin III completed less than 50% of his passes for 190 yards in his regular season debut for the Cleveland Browns. RG3 threw no touchdown passes and one interception, accumulating only 10.3 fantasy points.
More from Scarlet and Game
My running back picks did not have a very good week, with neither Doug Martin or Latavius Murray rushing for over 100 yards, and only finding the end zone once between the two of them. The only running back I mentioned who had a big game was listed in the “Other Options”. Spencer Ware went off for 129 receiving yards on 7 receptions, in addition to 70 yards on the ground and 1 rushing touchdown.
The wide receiver picks had possibly a worse week than the running backs. Although some information came to light that would have caused me to keep Sammy Watkins out of the article.
News came out Monday that Watkins was battling pain in his surgically repaired foot. It is unsure if he will play this week.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Saints passing game had a big day as I had anticipated, however the majority of the yards going to Brandin Cook and Willie Snead. Michael Thomas only had 6 receptions for 58 yards. I did mention Larry Fitzgerald at least in the “Other Options” sections, who caught 2 touchdown passes.
Both tight ends I mentioned managed to catch a touchdown pass in week one. Austin Seferian-Jenkins on his only catch for a 30 yard score. Eric Ebron however caught 5 passes for 46 yards and a score. Although neither had eye popping numbers, they scored well enough for their low prices.
