New North Texas coach Littrell completes staff with 6 hires

DENTON, Texas (AP) New North Texas coach Seth Littrell has completed his staff with six hires, including Mike Ekeler as defensive coordinator.

Ekeler will also coach linebackers for North Texas after the past two seasons as inside linebackers coach at Georgia. He also has coached at USC, Indiana, Nebraska, LSU and Oklahoma.

Troy Reffett was named co-defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. He was at Memphis last year after six seasons with Louisiana-Monroe.

The Mean Green also this week added Derrick LeBlanc as defensive line coach and Nate Brown as cornerbacks coach. Zack Womack will be the head strength and conditioning coach, and Shane Elder assistant athletic director for football operations.

Littrell, the offensive play caller for North Carolina the past two seasons, had previously hired his offensive staff including coordinator Graham Harrell.
