NC Central slips past Norfolk State 19-14

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) C.J. Moore blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone with 5:52 remaining to give North Carolina Central a 19-14 victory over Norfolk State on Saturday.

Norfolk State drove to NCCU's 8 with 43 seconds remaining, where Theo Livingston intercepted a Terrance Ervin pass to stop the drive. NCCU forced five turnovers in the game.

Andre Clarke had a one-yard scoring run and Eric Fenton kicked field goals of 47 and 18 yards to give NCCU (6-5, 5-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 13-7 lead with 5:21 remaining in the third quarter. Norfolk State (4-7, 4-3) quickly answered to take the lead when Terrance Ervin ran it in from the 1 with 3:20 left in the third.

With this victory the Eagles earned the right to play for a share of the MEAC title against North Carolina A&T next Saturday.
