North Carolina Central scored 35 points in the first half and the Eagles never were threatened in a 42-3 win over Central State on Saturday.

Michael Johnson led the offensive outburst with four touchdown passes. He finished the game 13 of 23 for 144 yards.

The Eagles led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, then exploded for 28 points in the second to put the game out of reach. Andre Clark scored on touchdown runs of 11 and 4 yards, the second following an interception thrown by Central State's Mark Horne. Clark finished with 145 yards on 24 carries.

Johnson threw two of his touchdown passes in the second quarter, one to Geovonie Irvine for 18 yards and a 6-yarder to Marvin Poole to extend the Eagles' lead to 35-3.
