Navy's goat 'Bill 35' euthanized due to illness
One of Navy's beloved 'Bill the Goat' mascots has passed away, the academy announced Wednesday.
Bill 35 was taken to the New Bolton Center in Pennsylvania for an illness Tuesday and was euthanized after doctors determined his condition would not improve.

"Due to pain and suffering caused by his condition and a low likelihood of improvement, doctors there determined the best and most humane course of action would be euthanization," one of Bill 35's caretakers said in a press release sent out by USNA.
The Angora goat, who was taken in by the Naval Academy in August, had a history of medical problems. Bill 35 suffered from idiopathic edema and related disorders, which were caused by chronic kidney weakness, according to the release.
Bill 35 leaves behind his brother, fellow Navy mascot Bill 36, as well as Bill 33 and Bill 34, who recently retired from the sidelines.
Memorial arrangements for Bill 35 have not yet been announced.
