N. Iowa 24, S. Dakota State 14
Tirrell Rennie threw for a touchdown and ran in for two more to lift Northern Iowa to a 24-14 win over South Dakota State on Saturday.
The Panthers (2-2, 2-0 Missouri Valley) were best on the ground, rushing for 276 yards while Rennie and fellow quarterback Zach Davis completed 12 of just 19 passes for 114 yards.
Running back Carlos Anderson led the Panthers in rushing with 136 yards. Rennie ran for 121 yards.
The Jackrabbits (0-4, 0-2) held their own through most of the game thanks to 230 yards passing by Thomas O'Brien. They pulled with 14-17 late in the fourth quarter when O'Brien connected with Colin Cochart for the touchdown.
But the Panthers strengthened their lead on the next drive when Rennie hit Schuylar Oordt with a 44-yard pass for the final touchdown.
