O'Neal had been a player under head coach Gary Pinkel. He tragically passed away during a voluntary workout in 2005.
O'Neal's No. 25 is worn by a linebacker every year in remembrance of the fallen athlete. Current Mizzou player Donavin Newsom wears O'Neal's former number. Like O'Neal, he attended Parkway North High School in St. Louis.
A press release by the university spoke about the event on Saturday.
"While the pain of Aaron's loss will dwell indefinitely, his memory and spirit will live on forever at Mizzou. Aaron's engaging smile, his selfless nature and his warm friendship will never be forgotten, and it is all of those things that will be celebrated with his entire family and the Mizzou family during Saturday's game."
