Mississippi Valley State notches 1st win 27-24 in OT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) Ruben Piraquive kicked a 34-yard field goal in overtime and Mississippi Valley State defeated Alabama A&M 27-24, ending a season-long losing skid on Saturday.

The Delta Devils (1-9, 1-7 Southwest Athletic) rallied into a tie with 2:15 left in regulation when Slade Jarman fired an 11-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Stokes. The last-gasp, 10-play drive was set up when Mississippi Valley State stopped Alabama A&M's Damion May one a fourth-and-one near midfield.

The Bulldogs fall to 2-6, 2-4.

May threw two touchdown passes - to Tevin McKenzie from the 37 and Jonathan Dorsey from the 18 - each time giving Alabama A&M the lead in the tight game with Mississippi Valley State. The Bulldogs led 7-0 on the pass to McKenzie, 13-10 on the pass to Dorsey.

The Bulldogs led 24-17 after a TD and two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter.
