MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The University of Minnesota has picked Syracuse athletic director Mark Coyle as the lone finalist for the Gophers' AD position.

President Eric Kaler announced the selection of Coyle, who has been at Syracuse for the past year. The 47-year-old was visiting campus Wednesday for a formal interview with the search committee and meetings with coaches and officials.

Coyle previously served as athletic director at Boise State and deputy AD at Kentucky. He was an associate athletic director for external relations at Minnesota from 2001-05, responsible for managing marketing, sales, communications, ticketing and licensing.

Interim AD Beth Goetz was a candidate for the job. She took over the reeling department last August following the resignation of Norwood Teague, who was accused of several instances of sexual harassment.
