Army veteran Daniel Rodriguez made his first college catch in No. 12 Clemson's 52-27 victory over Ball State on Saturday.

Rodriguez caught a 4-yard pass from Morgan Roberts midway through the fourth quarter and received a loud ovation from the crowd at Memorial Stadium.

The 24-year-old Rodriguez joined the program last month. He spent three years in the Army, serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He received both the Bronze Star Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart for serving in the battle of Kamdesh in October 2009.

He is attending Clemson on the GI Bill.
