Mike Gundy says relationship with Boone Pickens remains strong

It's good to see head coach Mike Gundy maintaining a strong relationship with a legend.

Gundy now has routine phone calls with Boone Pickens, though he admits the conversations weren't as frequent in preparation for the Sugar Bowl.

“You're recruiting, you've got bowl practice, bowl prep,” Gundy said, “There's just a lot going on.”

Gundy and Pickens weren't always on good terms, but the've mended the fences publicly. It's both good for morale, and perhaps more importantly, good for recruiting.

“All that's been good,” Gundy said. “It was certainly a really good move for me to extend myself and reignite the relationship.

“Boone wants to win 14 games,” Gundy said. “And so do I.”
