Michigan sends one of the biggest names in Hollywood personalized 'Jumpman' gear
It’s no secret that since Jim Harbaugh took over at Michigan, he has turned the Wolverines into a marketing machine. From the great, satellite camp tour of 2016, to producing his own rap videos and inviting a slew of celebrities to campus for signing day, Harbaugh seems to take the approach of using every day, every free moment in time, to further the Michigan football brand.
That was only expanded last week, when Michigan switched up its brand, quite literally. The Wolverines switched Adidas to Nike’s Jordan Brand, becoming the first college program to have the ‘Jump Man’ logo on its uniforms.
The move by Michigan led to a huge, campus-wide celebration, that, as we found out extends far beyond Ann Arbor. That’s because on Saturday night, Mark Wahlberg revealed that Michigan had sent him some personalized Jump Man gear.
He posted the picture below, along with the caption:
Thank you MJ, coach Harbaugh, Reggie Saunders and Larry Miller. Keep on growing! #weareteamjordan
The package is apparently one that Michigan is sending to all sorts of celebrities, which CollegeSpun.com says retail for $173 apiece.
Clearly that’s a small price to pay, to have someone like Wahlberg talking about you and your school on social media.
The only question now: Wonder what other celebrities end up with one of these packages on their door step in the coming days?
