Michigan CB J.T. Floyd done for season

Michigan cornerback J.T. Floyd is out for the season with an ankle injury.

Coach Rich Rodriguez says freshman Courtney Avery will likely start in Floyd's place Saturday at home against Illinois. Floyd started every game this season and eight times last year.

The Wolverines' inexperienced secondary just got younger, making it even more of a weak link on one of the nation's worst defenses. Rodriguez says it's just another bump in the road.

The embattled coach has had a lot of those at Michigan, losing three straight this season after starting 5-0. He finished 5-7 last year after winning the first four games.

Rodriguez had a school-record nine losses in his debut with college football's winningest program in 2008.
