Meyer declares first OSU satellite camp a success

Urban Meyer may not be in favor of satellite recruiting camps, but he can't help but want to compete.

So even after the Ohio State head coach declared his opposition to the practice, he scheduled one of his own for south Florida last week. With Big Ten East foes Jim Harbaugh and James Franklin both planning their own tours, there was no way Meyer was going to risk being left behind.

His trip to the campus of Florida Atlantic University last week to join the coaching staff of the Owls did not yield any immediate commits, but Meyer reportedly was able to connect with big-name prospects Nick Bosa and Trevon Grimes.

He subsequently told the Columbus Dispatch the trip "was an extremely positive experience," adding, "A lot of guys we had to see, we saw. I felt when we got on the plane heading home that it was absolutely worth it.”

Whether that means more are in store for next year remains to be seen, but any chance to talk to talented potential future Buckeyes is hard to pass up.
