Merrimack rallies to beat Wagner 42-41
Joe Clancy threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Shane Ferguson with 30 seconds left and Nick Zwaan added the extra point to give Merrimack a 42-41 victory over Wagner on Friday night.
Clancy was 35 of 50 for 309 yards and four touchdowns to help the Division II Warriors win their opener and spoil Wagner's first night game at Hameline Field.
Clancy's TD pass to Ferguson capped a 14-play, 96-yard drive.
Jere Brown had six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown for Merrimack.
Matt Misley was 16 of 28 for 174 yards and a touchdown for the Seahawks, an FCS school coming off a 28-21 season-opening victory over Georgetown. Misley also has 16 carries for 98 yards and two scores.
Dominique Williams led the Seahawks in rushing with 25 carries for 120 yards and two TDs. He gave Wagner a 41-35 lead on a 3-yard run with 5:06 left.
