McNeese St. 31, Sioux Falls 17
Darius Carey and Andre Anderson scored two touchdowns apiece as McNeese State defeated Sioux Falls 31-17 on Saturday night.
The Cowboys (1-1) had 413 yards total offense, 283 passing and 130 rushing, in their first game against the Cougars.
Sioux Falls (0-3) finished with 262 yards, 146 in the air and 116 on the ground. The Cougars are in their first year of Division II play after reaching the NAIA championship game last season.
Carey caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Cody Stroud, then returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown with 9:08 to go in the first half.
After Sioux Falls opened the third quarter with a field goal and a 31-yard interception return by Angelo Pree to get within 14-10, Anderson scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards.
Wes Briscoe had 113 yards on four catches for the Cowboys.
