McNeese scores four times off interceptions

(STATS) - Now that's Defense With Attitude.

At McNeese, the defense is known as D.W.A., and on Saturday night, the unit made NCAA history when it returned four interceptions for touchdowns as part of the 20th-ranked Cowboys' 55-7 homecoming win over Incarnate Word in the Southland Conference.

The four pick-6s tied the all-division NCAA record, which was established by Houston in 1987 and later matched by Millikin in 1999, Northwestern State in 2003 and Nicholls in 2007.

"I've seen a lot of football, but I've never seen anything like that," said head coach Lance Guidry, who also is the team's defensive coordinator.

Calum Foster and Colby Burton scored on 42- and 51-yard interception returns, respectively, in the first quarter before Dominique Hill had a 38-yard touchdown in the third and Marcus Foster a 29-yard score in the fourth. Andre Fuller also had an interception as part of five the Cowboys had against two Incarnate Word quarterbacks.

The Cowboys (6-1, 4-1 Southland) have allowed only one offensive touchdown in their last four games. Next Saturday, they travel to conference leader Central Arkansas.
