McGough leads Florida International past Charlotte 48-31

MIAMI (AP) Alex McGough threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns as Florida International dominated Charlotte 48-31 on Saturday in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Florida International (5-5, 3-3 Conference USA) led 34-10 at half. The Panthers are 4-0 at home for the first time in school history.

McGough has thrown for a school record 21 touchdowns this season. He entered the game 19th in passing yards in the country and 17th in passing touchdowns. His first touchdown pass of the day was a 15-yarder to Clinton Taylor who had nine catches for 126 yards and two scores. It put the Panthers on top for good at 14-7.

The Panthers scored first when Kenyatta Anderson blocked and recovered Arthur Hart's punt attempt in the end zone for a 7-0 lead barely two minutes into the game.

Lee McNeil threw for 135 yards and a touchdown for the 49ers (2-7, 0-6).
