Massachusetts set to join MAC

The University of Massachusetts is expected to join the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday.

A press conference will be held at 3:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. to announce the move.

UMass would be the football-only member and become the 14th program of the MAC. The school would become eligible for bowls and the conference championship game starting in 2013.

UMass currently plays in the Football Championship Subdivision.
