Maryland Football: Darrius Heyward-Bey rushes for long touchdown
Darrius Heyward-Bey may not be a starting NFL wideout, but he’s still making plays.
The former Maryland star found the end zone for the second time in the last three games for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Heyward-Bey ran for a 60-yard touchdown on an end around during the first quarter against the Miami Dolphins.
The play developed rather quick for Heyward-Bey.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looked like he was going to hand it off to running back Le’Veon Bell. However, he ended up flipping it to Heyward-Bey, who hit the hole hard.
Heyward-Bey bounced off a Miami tackler and used his explosive speed to split two more defenders before taking it down the sideline.
It was his first career rushing touchdown and first rushing attempt since 2013 when he was with the Indianapolis Colts. He carried the ball three times for just 26 yards that season.
Coming into Sunday’s game, Heyward-Bey had recorded just two receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown came on a 31-yard pass from Roethlisberger against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 2.
Heyward-Bey has found a nice little niche in Pittsburgh as a special teamer and a part-time receiver. He’s spent the last three seasons with the Steelers after spending the majority of his career with the Oakland Raiders.
Heyward-Bey was originally selected by the Raiders with the No. 7 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. He was selected just three picks before the San Francisco 49ers picked Michael Crabtree, who ironically is with the Raiders now.
