Atiq Lucas rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns to lift Marist to a 31-20 win over Dayton in a Pioneer League opener on Saturday.

Lucas got help from Chuckie Looney, who rushed for 121 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, as the Red Foxes (2-2, 1-0) pulled away from Dayton (2-2, 0-1) to score their first-ever win over the Flyers.

Dayton dominated the first quarter, scoring 13 points on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Will Bardo to Branden Johnson and a 2-yard carry by Robert Washington, who recovered his own fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked after the second touchdown and the Flyers offense began to sputter.

The Marist defense padded the lead in the fourth quarter when Zachary Quarles intercepted a Bardo pass and ran 30 yards for a touchdown.
