Luke Turner ran for a game-winning 1-yard touchdown in overtime as Rice edged UAB 37-34 on Thursday night to remain in the thick of the Conference USA West Division race.

Turner's run was set up by a 17-yard run to the UAB 1-yard line by Jowan Davis, who finished with 130 yards rushing and a touchdown for Rice (8-3, 6-1 C-USA).

The Owls held UAB (2-9, 1-6) to a 43-yard field goal from Ty Long on the Blazers' overtime possession after sacking Jonathan Perry twice in three plays.

A 2-yard touchdown run by Davis with 7:20 left in regulation put Rice up 31-21 but UAB responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Perry to Darius Powell with 3:37 remaining.
