The NCAA has scheduled a conference call to discuss LSU's 2009 internal investigation into improper contact between an ex-coach and former player.
A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that the call concerns LSU's probe of former receivers coach D.J. McCarthy's dealings with defensive lineman Akiem Hicks, a junior college transfer who never played for the Tigers. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NCAA is not publicly discussing the matter before the announcement.
McCarthy resigned in late 2009. LSU has asked the NCAA to accept self-imposed punishments that include the loss of two scholarships and a reduction in official visits.
