Louisville Football: Parker has productive day in Dolphins' loss to the Titans
Former Louisville football player DeVante Parker proved his worth as the Dolphins’ vertical threat in Miami’s loss to the Titans Sunday afternoon.
The Dolphins weren’t able to beat the Titans at home this afternoon, but DeVante Parker showed why he is Miami’s number one downfield threat. The Louisville football product didn’t get the football thrown his way much last week, but he definitely took advantage of every opportunity today.
Parker was Miami’s top receiver today against the Tennessee Titans. According to ESPN, Parker had 2 receptions for 70 yards on three targets.
Unfortunately for Parker, the Dolphins’ defensive line was terrible in this game as the Titans sacked Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill six different times. For a guy who needs room to step into his throws, that was a recipe for disaster for Miami’s offense.
The Dolphins said that getting the ball to Parker was a point of emphasis, but they should probably pay more attention to their offensive line. They obviously know that, but if they can’t block then the Dolphins won’t be able to get the ball downfield to Parker.
This solid game gives Parker 13 receptions, 177 yards and one touchdown in the young 2016 NFL season. The Dolphins now move on to play a tough Pittsburgh Steelers team next Sunday, however the Steelers do give up a lot of yards through the air.
Parker could have a great game next weekend against the Steelers if the Dolphins’ offensive line can give Tannehill more time to throw the football.
