Lenoir-Rhyne runs past Davidson in 34-18 win
Isaiah Whitaker rushed for 105 yards and a score as Lenoir-Rhyne ran all over Davidson in a 34-18 win Saturday night.
After giving up a touchdown to Davidson (0-2) on the opening drive, the Bears (1-1) responded with 17 straight points, including a 98-yard kick return touchdown by Jarrod Spears and a 47-yard score from Miles Freeman to James Phillips.
Leading 17-12 at half, Lenoir-Rhyne scored two more touchdowns in the second half to extend their lead as Miles Freeman and Whitaker each had a score on the ground.
Freeman completed two passes for 89 yards and rushed for 87.
Jonathan Carkhuff went 27-for-46 with 374 yards and three touchdowns to lead Davidson. William Morris was the prime target with 119 yards receiving and a score. Reese Williams added 106 yards receiving and a touchdown.
The Bear's rushing attack compiled 419 yards, with Spears having 82 on seven carries.
