Leach: Graham Harrell promoted to Washington State outside receivers coach
Graham Harrell, one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NCAA history, has been promoted to outside receivers coach at Washington State, WSU head coach Mike Leach told FOX Sports on Thursday morning.
The 29-year-old Harrell, a record-setting quarterback for Leach at Texas Tech, takes over the job Dennis Simmons had for the Cougars before he left to take a similar job at Oklahoma last week. Harrell spent the 2014 season in an off-field role for WSU as an offensive analyst, assisting the Cougar offense with film breakdown, player evaluations and game planning.
Harrell spent the 2009 season in the Canadian Football League before spending three seasons (2010-12) with the Green Bay Packers, earning a Super Bowl ring in 2010. He finished his career with an NCAA-record 134 touchdown passes, the second-most career yards (15,793) in NCAA history and with the third-highest career passing average with 350.96 yards per game. He is a third-generation coach, whose father and grandfather were successful high school coaches in Texas.
